I just heard that a close friend of mine just had his second baby. I promised him that I would visit him when his wife gave birth to the first one... Didn't realize that time flew by so quickly. I also took his new address wanted to visit after Eid, now even Eidul Adha has passed and I've still yet to pay him a visit.

After one week of using the AKG GHS-1 I'd like to give a quick review of AKG's first attempt at a gaming headphones.

Before deciding to get this, I've tried Roccat Kave and Steelseries 5HV2 - didn't really like the feel of the Kave or the sound on 5HV2. I wanted something I could wear even if I'm not playing games and please - no audiophile crap. Only gaming headsets. Don't tell me you could attach a $10 mic on Sennheiser HD555.

My Plantronics 367 is too heavy and honestly its quite uncomfortable on the ears after prolonged use but I got that as a birthday gift from Sam. (THANKS SAM <3). The Razer Carcharias was one of the best headphones but broke in less than 18 months. So no more Razer for me.

There isn't much headphones you could get if you had the budget of under RM300 ( $100 ). I don't trust Creative and Sennheinser's was too expensive.


Pros :

- Sound is excellent (for gaming / music).
- Great design
- Really light compared to Razer Carcharias / Plantronics Gamecom 367

Cons :

- Don't like the cushion padding but acceptable. The plantronics 367's was way more itchy for me
- What is up with the mic being erected 24/7? I can't even move it but the sound is clear enough although its quite short

So if you want something that's not Razer, Roccat, Steelseries or Plantronics - give AKG a shot. They're definitely not a newcomer in the audio industry.
